“….The city planning staff have acted within the constraints of the law and can only support the community within the letter of the law. What we are asking you to do is work within the spirit of the law. The city's official plan, chapter 4.1 Neighbourhoods, concerning "Development Criteria in Neighbourhoods" Point 5. clearly states :
"Development in established Neighbourhoods will respect and reinforce the existing physical character of the neighbourhood, including in particular:
c) heights, massing, scale and dwelling type of nearby residential properties
f) prevailing patterns of rear and side yard setbacks and landscaped open space;
g) continuation of special landscape or built-form features that contribute to the unique physical character of a neighbourhood
h) conservation of heritage buildings, structures and landscapes"

“……I am completely opposed to anyone coming in and building such a monstrosity as it would be the beginning of the end. It would become open season on mega renovations and would destroy the fabric of the community. A great visionary, Robert Home Smith, planned and built these homes to fit together and it would be the end of his great work.
How he built the community has historic value and all should be done the preserve it. Please help us to stop this development…..”

“……I am also flabbergasted with the fact that this family has failed once again to consult with the neighbourhood as agreed at our meeting with you”.

….Furthermore, the home was built for the intentional disregard for of existing bylaws which was uneccessary given the lot size. I am certain that a more modest sized development can be designed within given by-laws which will not adversely affect the character and enjoyment of our neighbourhood or that of our new neighbour’s home and surroundings….”

“…..In particular, one of our primary issues was the complete lack of consultation by the homeowner of the neighbourhood's concerns. Accordingly, dozens of letters and petitions have been put forward regarding the proposed demolition and large development at this address….”

"....We are distraught with the outlandish proposed development for 66 Baby Point Road. This proposal is excessively large and out of keeping with the existing physical character of the area.This home design is suitable for Mississauga but is not in keeping with an established neighbourhood. This proposed development does not respect the heritage of the Baby Point Community...."

"....We are extremely concerned with the development proposed for 66 Baby Point Rd........ we also feel the applicant has done a poor job of consulting with area residents..."

“….As you know, we are a somewhat unique, isolated enclave. Some of the factors that drew many of us to the neighbourhood were the history of the original development, the architectural uniqueness of the homes and the strong sense of community that we share. While there have been several recent substantial renovations to homes, each of them has tried to maintain the architectural integrity of the original home. If we allow the demolition of this home, it will not be the last and may signal the beginning of the end of this neighbourhood as we know it…..”
